I’ve been thinking a lot about eternity lately.
Not just the fact that eternity exists, but what Jesus said about the way that leads to it.
Jesus talked about two roads.
One is broad, and many are traveling on it. The other is narrow, and Jesus said that only a few find it.
The broad road leads to destruction.
The narrow road leads to life.
Those are sobering words.
We live in a world that often tells us there are many ways to God. But Jesus didn’t say that. He said, “I am the way, the truth, and the life.”
The narrow way is Jesus.
But following Jesus means more than simply believing that He exists. It means surrendering our lives to Him.
It means being willing to say, “Not my will, but Yours, be done.”
The narrow road may not always be the easiest road. It may not be the most popular road. And it certainly isn’t always the road our flesh wants to take.
But it is the road that leads to life.
And when I think about eternity, I have to ask myself:
Which road am I walking?
Am I simply following the crowd because the broad road is easier?
Or am I following Jesus—even when the road is difficult?
Jesus didn’t tell us about the narrow way to discourage us.
He told us because He wants us to choose life.
And that’s the choice that stands before every one of us.
The road we choose today has an eternal destination.
Lord, help me choose Your way.
Help me keep my eyes on Jesus and continue walking the narrow road, knowing that this life is temporary, but eternity is forever.
