New Mercies Every Morning

Lately, I’ve found myself thinking about and singing an old song by Phillips, Craig & Dean called New Mercy. The message behind that song is rooted in the powerful truth found in Scripture—that the Lord makes His mercies new every single day.

What a comforting reminder that every morning we wake up with breath in our bodies, His mercy and grace are available to us once again. No matter what happened yesterday, God gives us fresh strength, fresh peace, and the ability we need to face the day ahead. He equips us to accomplish the tasks before us and helps us endure whatever challenges may come our way.

A few weeks ago, I wrote a series on renewing the mind, and this thought goes hand in hand with that message. As we keep our minds and our gaze fixed on our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, He helps us navigate this life with wisdom, peace, and perseverance. There will be moments when we face adversity, hardship, and weakness—but even in those moments, God remains faithful.

I think about the Apostle Paul when he pleaded with the Lord to remove the thorn in his flesh. The Lord responded by saying:

“My grace is sufficient for you, for My strength is made perfect in weakness.” (2 Corinthians 12:9)

Sometimes the very struggles we want removed are the things God uses to shape us more into His image. It’s not always easy, but through those moments we begin to reflect His love, His mercy, His grace, and His peace to those around us.

My prayer today is that we would ask the Lord for the grace to keep our hearts fixed on Him—the God of mercy and grace—and seek Him with all our hearts.

Jesus said:

“Seek first the kingdom of God and His righteousness, and all these things shall be added unto you.” (Matthew 6:33)

Be encouraged,
His mercies are new every single morning. The Lord is faithful, and He will never fail to keep His promises.

Until next time, have a blessed day, Family!
