In Search of Truth — Truth Is a Person

“Jesus answered, “I am the way and the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me.”

What is truth?

This question is not new. It was asked nearly two thousand years ago when Pontius Pilate stood face to face with Jesus Christ and asked, “What is truth?” (John 18:38). Standing before him was not just a teacher or a prophet—but Truth Himself.

A Seeker in the Night

In John chapter 3, we read of Nicodemus, a religious leader who came to Jesus searching for answers.

Jesus revealed a powerful truth:

“For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life.” (John 3:16)

But He didn’t stop there. Jesus exposed the condition of the human heart:

“Light has come into the world, and people loved darkness rather than light because their deeds were evil.” (John 3:19)

Truth is not just something to understand—it is something that reveals. It brings things into the light. Jesus said that those who practice truth come into the light so that it may be clearly seen that their works are done in God (John 3:20–21).

Many Paths—or One?

In today’s world, there are many belief systems—Islam, Buddhism, Confucianism, and others—that claim to lead to God.

But Jesus made a statement that sets Him apart from every other voice:

“I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through Me.” (John 14:6)

This is not one option among many—it is an exclusive claim that demands consideration.

The Foundation of Truth

Christianity is not built merely on ideas or moral teachings, but on a person and a historical event.

Jesus Christ, the Son of God, came into the world to redeem humanity from sin. He lived a sinless life, gave Himself on the cross, shed His blood for our sins, and three days later rose from the dead. He is now seated at the right hand of God (Romans 8:34).

After His resurrection, Jesus appeared to many witnesses and walked the earth for forty days before ascending into heaven (Acts 1:3).

This is the greatest claim ever made—and it cannot be ignored.

A Truth Worth Knowing

Billy Graham once said:

“It is far better to know God’s truth than to be ignorant of it.”

If Jesus is truly who He claimed to be, then responding to Him is not optional—it is eternal.

The Challenge

So here is the challenge:

Ask yourself the same question Pilate asked—What is truth?

But don’t stop there.

Search for it.

Jesus said:

“Seek, and you will find.” (Matthew 7:7)

Truth is not hidden from those who genuinely pursue it.

Truth Revealed

When you discover that truth is found in Jesus Christ, everything changes.

He reveals Himself to you through the Holy Spirit, and what begins as a search becomes a relationship.

There is no greater relationship on this side of eternity.

And there is no greater gift than salvation—the promise of eternal life with God the Father.

Final Thought

Truth is not just a concept.

Truth is a person.

And His name is Jesus Christ.
