The Journey Begins

Good company in a journey makes the way seem shorter. — Izaak Walton

I (Chris) remember vividly beginning my journey while still living in my hometown in Indiana the summer of 1999. A good friend of mine had invited me to check out Cleveland, TN. So I visited that summer and felt a magnetic pull to this city.

I need to back up a bit. I accepted the Lord Jesus Christ into my life when I was in my sophomore year in high school. My parents were going through the process of divorce which my dad had initiated, but by the intervention of the Holy Spirit and definitely my moms prayers my dad gave his heart to the Lord. When I found out that my parents were going through this process it really tore me up inside. However, one morning I was awoken by my dad who had tears streaming down his face. I asked, “Dad, why are you crying?” He never cried in front of me before that I recalled. He told me that he accepted the Lord Jesus Christ, and then asked me to forgive him and that he and my mom were not going to separate. The Lord did a miracle and restored their marriage.

I share this detail because that is really when my journey began. That started a very exciting journey for me when I visited Cleveland, TN that summer of 1999. I moved to Cleveland later in the summer and came to New Life Bible College.

The greatest journey anybody can make in this life is when in the heart they realize the need for a Savior and accept Jesus Christ. Gods one and only Son who became the sacrifice for sins when he gave his life freely on the Cross. He rose from death by the power of the Holy Spirit on the 3rd day and overcame death, hell, and the grave.

Today, I would encourage you if you do not know, or have never accepted Jesus Christ to repent and accept Him. There is no greater love. He does love us deeply, and will forgive us when we come to him broken.
